Our Beliefs

CenterPointe Church is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing, New Testament Church formed for the purpose of exalting God through the evangelization of the lost and the education, equipping, and edification of the believers now and in successive generations.

We believe:
  • In the one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), the Almighty Creator, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 28:19).

  • That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16–17; John 14:26; 16:12–15)

  • That Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:34, 35), and that He was and remains true God (John 1:1) and true man (Hebrews 2:14). That Jesus is the Lord and the Head of the Church (Colossians 1:18) and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs (Matthew 18: 17; 1 Corinthians 6:4, 5).

  • That the Holy Spirit is a divine Person, equal to and of the same nature with the Father and the Son; that He convicts the world of sin (John 16:8); that He restrains the Evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that He assists believers to understand and appropriate the Scriptures (John 3:5–8); that He bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony (John 14:26); and that He indwells all who are truly born again (1 Corinthians 12: 13), while remaining intolerant to continued sin in the lives of believers.

  • That Satan, once holy, fell after attempting to become like the Almighty, and that he is now man’s great tempter, the enemy of Christ, the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, the chief power behind increasing apostasy in the world, and is destined for ultimate defeat and destruction at the hand of God’s own Son. (Job 1:6-7; Isaiah14:12-17; Matthew 4:2-11; 25:41; Revelation 20:10)

  • That God created Adam and Eve innocent in His divine image (Genesis 1:27); that they voluntarily sinned (Genesis 3:1-6), and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that, as a result of Adam's sin, all human beings are now born with a sinful nature and stand guilty before God. (Romans 1:18, 32; 3:10-19; 5:12, 19)

  • That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice (Acts 2:18-36; 1 Peter 2:24); that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood alone (Ephesians 1:7); and that all who by faith receive the Lord Jesus Christ as propitiation for their sins, are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. (Romans 3:24-25; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19)

  • That God sanctifies the institution of marriage between one man and one woman; that there should be no intimate sexual activity outside of the marriage covenant. We believe that God loves homosexuals but abhors their lifestyle in the same way he abhors heterosexual adultery. We believe that any form of adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. (Gen. 19:5-13; Lev. 18; Rom. 1:26-29; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Heb. 13:4)

  • That Christian baptism is the full immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and is the solemn and beautiful emblem of our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life. (Matthew 28:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26) Baptism is, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation (Ephesians 2:8, 9).

  • In the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:3), in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate, and in the blessed hope of the Lord’s personal and imminent return; and we also believe in the future bodily resurrection of the just and unjust: the saved to everlasting blessedness (1 Corinthians 15:51–53; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18), and the lost to everlasting punishment. (Revelation 20:7–15)
